Kitten Program

Congratulations on acquiring your new kitten! To help welcome your kitten to its new home, Aguajito Veterinary Hospital has developed a kitten program. To insure a healthy start in life, this program will provide your kitten with preventative health care for the first year of its life.

What is included?

• 3 physical exams - One is for the initial visit and the following exams 3-4 weeks apart to help assist with your kitten's growth
• 1 FELV/FIV blood test
• 3 FVRCCP vaccines - first shot is at 8 weeks of age. Two more are given once every 3-4 weeks
• 2 FELV vaccines given at ages 12 and 16 weeks
• 1 rabies vaccine given at age 16 weeks
• 1 de-wormer doses
• 1 fecal test
• With a purchase of the program you are eligible to receive 15%off your kittens spay/neuter and microchip implant. We recommend spaying or neutering your kittens between the ages of 4-6 month. This program also includes free samples of our popular products.

Vaccinations: To give your kitten the best protection against infectious disease, we recommend a series of vaccines starting at 6-8 weeks of age. Your kitten should receive 3 FVRCCPs and 2 FELVs. The FVRCCP and FELV vaccines are both given once a year for life. Law requires rabies vaccinations.

FELV/FIV blood test: This blood test checks to see if your kitten is carrying the easily transferable and deadly diseases of feline leukemia and feline AIDS.

De-wormer: This medication removes intestinal parasites including tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms.

Fecal test: This test requires you to bring in a small, fresh sample (no more than 4 hours old) of your kitten's feces to test for internal parasites. Tapeworms, which are transmitted by fleas, are not always diagnosed by a fecal test.

Flea and Tick Prevention: We highly recommend using some type of flea control for all animals, including those that are indoor only. We carry Frontline, which takes care of fleas and ticks, and Advantage, which kills just fleas.
