Highly Trained Staff with Decades of Experience
Aguajito Veterinary Hospital's doctors are well-known for their expertise, both locally, and in some cases, internationally. The team is trained to handle all of the "expected" veterinary treatments, but is skilled in utilizing eastern veterinary medicine and less "traditional" treatments as well.
Dr. Tom Williams
Dr. Williams is a UC Davis graduate with over 30 years of experience as a veterinary owner/practitioner in Monterey. He is noted for his excellent diagnostic and surgical skills. Dr. Williams also has a career-long role as a Monterey Bay Aquarium research scientist, where he initiated the Sea Otter Rescue Program and is the veterinarian for the Tuna Research and Conservation Center (a joint project between Stanford University and the Monterey Bay Aquarium). Dr. Williams has a menagerie consisting of a dog, Adeline; two cats, Rasputina and Nike; four cows; and a dozen chickens. He loves his profession and is very proud of his well-rounded veterinary team.
Dr. Maureen Loughlin
Dr. Maureen Loughlin has cared for cats and dogs at Aguajito Veterinary Hospital as a veterinarian since 2000. She is a University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana graduate where she focused on internal medicine, feline medicine and surgery, dermatology and wildlife/exotic pet medicine. Her passion includes puppy/kitten health care, as well as geriatric medicine, treating our beloved older cats and dogs. As a certified veterinary acupuncturist(CVA), Dr.Loughlin is also available for acupuncture, nutrition and herbal consults for dogs and cats. Acupuncture can be very beneficial for internal medicine (kidney, liver, GI disease), as well as pain management(arthritis, disk disease).
Dr. Loughlin enjoys kayaking, biking, and hiking the California coast with her border collie, Teddy Bear and playing with her cat, Molly Mittens and guinea pig, Chewbaca. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practioners and International Sled Dog Veterinary Medicine Association. In 2008, she was a trail veterinarian for the Iditarod Sled dog race in Alaska. With over 20 years of experience, Dr Loughlin loves her job!
Dr. Brynie Kaplan-Dau
Dr. Brynie Kaplan-Dau is the newest member of the Aguajito Veterinary Hospital medical team. She graduated from the University of California Davis where she focused on small animal, exotic, and aquatic animal medicine. Her primary interests include feline medicine, emergency medicine, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Kaplan-Dau grew up in Pacific Grove and is happy to be back on the peninsula. Before becoming a veterinarian Dr. Kaplan-Dau was a marine biologist and worked with marine wildlife in California, Washington state, and Greece. Outside of work Dr. Kaplan-Dau spends most of her time riding her bike with her husband, watching movies at home with her cats Elliot and Saga, or walking on the beach with her pugs Ruby and Sampson.
